Tappan
Zee defeated visiting Nyack 90-39 Thursday to finish the
boys swimming regular season undefeated. Tappan
Zee's girls team went undefeated in the fall.
"It's a great feeling,"
said senior captain Reed Neuendorf, as the Dutchmen wrapped up an
8-0 campaign. "It's the perfect end to a long career. It's a great
way to end it off. I'm happy that I was a part of the
program."
Sophomore Yong Hoon Jun
took first place in the 100-meter butterfly with a personal best
time of 55.2 seconds. Junior Sam Tse took third in the 200 free
with a personal-best 1:56.7. He was also third in the 100
free.
"We got a lot of stellar
performances from our younger swimmers," coach Dan Rafferty
said.
Now the Dutchmen are
focusing on winning the conference championship and then moving on to
the sectionals.
"We want to win the
conference," Neuendorf said. "We have not won that in my career,
and I'd like to accomplish that before I leave. We're going to come
out on top, as long as everyone does their job."
