First
team
200 medley relay: DON
BOSCO (Ryan Magee, junior; Lou Gabriele, senior; John Fatigati,
junior; Michael Guerci, freshman): The Ironmen won this race for
the first time at the County championships, finishing in a
meet-record 1:40.24.
200 freestyle: RYAN
MAGEE, Don Bosco, junior
After finishing third as
a sophomore, Magee dropped his time by almost seven seconds to win
his first individual County gold medal.
200 individual medley:
LEO LIM, Tenafly, soph.
Lim has yet to lose an
individual race to a Bergen County opponent in his high school
career. He went on to win the Meet of Champions IM title, becoming
the first State champion swimmer from Tenafly.
50 freestyle: TREVOR
MARSHALL, Teaneck, soph.
After taking second as a
freshman, Marshall set a meet record, finishing in 22.09. He
finished 14th at the Meet of Champions.
100 butterfly: LEO LIM,
Tenafly, sophomore
After winning the County
title in the breast stroke as a freshman, Lim switched to the
butterfly and grabbed his fourth individual championship. He
finished third at the Meet of Champions.
100 freestyle: ANDREW
MAZEN, Northern Highlands, junior
Mazen won his first
individual County championship in 48.94 and set a school
record.
500 freestyle: BOBBY
HILZEN, Glen Rock, fresh.
Hilzen set a meet record
(4:46.12) and was the point winner in USA Swimming’s Eastern
Zone Select Camp in 2009.
200 freestyle relay:
NORTHERN HIGHLANDS (Dylan Cummings, junior; Zach Thomas, soph.;
James Langan, senior; Andrew Mazen, junior): The Highlanders edged
Tenafly to take the County title, finishing in a school-record
1:32.25.
100 backstroke: AUSTIN
TAYLOR, Ridgewood, sr.
Taylor’s seven
County championships (three individual and four relay) are
second-most since 2005. His personal best is 51.54.
100 breast stroke: ANDREW
REIMON, Rutherford, junior
Reimon put together one
of the best seasons of anyone, winning his first individual County
championship and placing fifth at the Meet of Champions. He also
was part of two relay teams that placed in the top 16 in New
Jersey.
400 freestyle relay:
RIDGEWOOD (Tim Healy, senior; Peter Westcott, sophomore; Edward
Kim, freshman; Austin Taylor, senior): The Maroons have won this
event at the County meet four consecutive years and set a meet
record in 3:19.47, breaking their old mark by more than two
seconds. Taylor swam a 48.1 final leg.
Coach of the year: KEITH
COOK, Ridgewood: Cook led the boys to third place in the County
championship and their third sectional title in the last four
years.
